OBIT: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday for Joseph Bunyan Edwards, 67, retired Coalinga elementary school custodian, who died in a local hospital on Friday. The Rev. Phillip Smith of the Assembly of God, Valley Chapel, of which Mr. Edwards was a member, will officiate at the services in the Welch-Ryce Associates Goleta Chapel, 450 Ward Dr. Interment will be in Goleta Cemetery. Mr. Edwards and his wife, the former Esther Nelson, came here to live 18 months ago. They lived at 279 Sherwood Dr. He was born in Texas, May 30, 1899, the son of William S. and Naoma Bedford Edwards. He married Miss Nelson in Brody, TX, in 1918. They came to California from Arizona in 1940 and after many years in Coalinga moved to Santa Barbara. He was a member of the California School Employees Association. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Edwards, are a son, Jay Edwards of Goleta Valley, three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.[Edwards gedcom.GED]
