| FIRE BRIGADE.
A social was tendered to Mr. J. P. Conn by the Boolaroo Fire Brigade member, at the fire station, on Friday evening last. Captain Jenkins, who presided, in making a presentation of a tobacco pouch, suitably inscribed, said that ex-Fireman Conn, after 23 years' service as a volunteer and partially paid fireman, had resigned from the brigade. He was one of, the oldest members, and was ever ready to respond to the call, The members' of a whole felt that they ,were losing his comradeship and services. He was the holder of a long service medal, and also of the four-bar Chevron, given by the Fire Board for 20 year service. He asked the guest to accept a memento of their esteem. Fireman H. Lewis, A. Telfer, and E. M'Ewan also spoke in terms of appreciation of the service that ex-Fireman Conn had rendered, and regretted his severance from the brigade. Mr. Conn expressed thanks for the presentation, and said that he was sorry to have to leave the brigade, but other duties prevented him from giving the proper attention to the brigade. However, ha would never forgot his pleasant relation with the members of the brigade, and assistance could always be relied upon, if needed, if there was call of fire. Harmony and refreshments served helped towards a pleasant evening spent.
