Clarke Burial Ground "The Clarke Families of Rhode Island" by George Austin Morrison He was chief singer for the Sabbatarian Church of Westerly, for many years, and served as Clerk of the Church for a long period. Major Joseph Clarke was deputy for Westerly, 1756. He was also a magistrate at Westerly, R. I., and served in Revolutionary Warin a company called out and organized by Town Meeting 29 Nov 1776, to serve 3 months. He was sent to Newport to replace Col. Richmond's Regiment, which was sent to New York.
