Joseph BERGERON dit d'AMBOISE, (according to S. A. White) born around 1731, son of Michel BERGERON dit de Nantes & his 2nd wife Marie DUGAS.
Note iv after family: On the census of 1736 only Michel and Barthélemy among the BERGERONs had any sons. We believe that the latter was the father of Joseph whom we find on the census on 1766 in Louisiana under the name of Joseph Barthélemy. We are thus brought to believe that the Joseph BERGERON who married Marie-Rose MELANSON, Angélique SAINDON & Geneviève Côté was the son of Michel. This supposition is supported by the presence of Michel BERGERON, and of Madeleine BOURG his wife, among the baptismal sponsors of Joseph's children (Register of ). Kamouraska on 5 Aug 1764 & 13 Mar 1765. Moreover, the Journal of Charles Robin makes mention, under the date of 2 Mar 1787, of a brother of his guide, [Étienne BERGERON dit] DAMBOISE, who lives in Cacouna. This must be about Joseph.
