JONAH'S given name is Jonas Hamilton.
Civil War. "Private Jonah Hamilton, age 44, enlisted 3 Dec 1861 discharged disabled 12 Feb. 1862 at New York City. (Jonah must have lied about his age. He certainly is our Jonah.)". Jonahs son Stephen had a daughter, Lovina, who md. Robert J. Potter. Two of her sister's in law, Elma and Esther were still living in 1973 and were interviewed, consenting to this above data. Jonas was a trader and at times owned considerable property in Goshen. He was a town mortician. In the 1830s he was one of fifteen men in Conway (N.H.) who owned chaises.
