BIRTH: MARRIAGE: DEATH: In 1804 they moved with their family to Ancaster twp. in Ontario, Canada. The place where they settled in Ancaster was named Jerseyville as a large number of people from New Jersey immigrated there. A son Eli was born to Rachel on their journey from New Jersey, but before they reached Ancaster. John's brother Obed and his wife Hannah Vastbinder also came from NJ and settled on the next lot to John and Rachel. Another brother, Samuel IV immigrated to Ancaster four years earlier in 1800 and owned land adjacent to John and Obed. Two other brothers also came to Ancaster but relocated to Elgin and Brant County. The two brothers were Levi and Eli. John later relocated to South Dumfries twp. in Brant county. John and Rachel were shown in the early records of the Pelham MM of Friends and later John was shown in the Norwich Monthly Meeting of Friends. Rachel did not request membership at Norwich nor did she attend meetings there. It has been reported that the Drakes were Baptists so perhaps Rachel became a member of that church. John and Rachel are both buried in Clump cemetery, in S. Dumfries twp. Died in South Dumfries twp. Source: Records of Mary Francis, 7 Picton St., Suite 805, London, Ontario, Canada N6B3N7.
