    Quoting from a family history written by John's brother Samuel Willis: "John Willis, my father's brother, was the next in order of time, was born (by the best accounts I have) in London, on ye 6th of 1st month, 1668 [being 1668, one would presume this means March, but it was written in 1760 when the first month was January?], and came over with the family, and after he came to man's estate he went in Pennsylvania, in Chester County, and married the daughter of one Brenton, her name was Esther. My grandfather was helptul in purchasing some land there, I think the place is called Thornbury."
