Source:Thompson-Stahr, Jane. Burling Books, p. 76, discusses the death record [found NYBGR, Vol. 7, p. 87] "John Way son of James Way and was son of ye above Sarah Deceased the [blank] dy of ye [blank] mo 1747". The Sarah referred to was Sarah (Dean) Way, and her son John's will is dated 1715, so it does not refer to him. The Burling Book supposes it refers to this John, but other sources suggest this John m. 1759 Phebe Titus. My (Jrich) guess, realizing that the Burling Books did not study the whole Way family, is that it should say grandson of ye above Sarah, and was therefore John, son of James, and grandson of Sarah. Riker's Annals of Newtown says that James married Mary Alsop and had issue Thomas and John, neither of whom married.
