In the Name of God Amen I JOHN WASHINGTON of Stafford County and Parish of St. Pauls being sick but of perfect mind .. make this my last will & Testament ,.
Imp I give unto my Loving wife the Plantation whereon I now live during her natural live and after her decease I give the said tract to my son WILLIAM and his heirs ..
Item I give unto my loving wife all my household furniture she giving to each of my children 2 feather beds when they come to age or marriage together with furniture for the afd beds.
Item I give to my son NATHL. all my plate he paying to the rest. of my children their proportion according to the valuation, but it is my will that my wife shall have the use of it during her life.
Item My will is that my stock of horses cattle hoggs and sheep shall be kept together as they now are for the support of my wife & children and that my Executors do pay to my children in equal division the said stocks as they respectively attain the age of 21 years or are married. Item I give to my daughter ELIZABETH a negro woman named Nell and the said Nell's children that now are born together with their future Increase and also that my Executors choose out of my Estate four other Negroes for my said daughter Elizabeth, to be delivered to her at her marriage or age of 21.
Item I give to my Loving wife the use of the third part of all my Negroes during her life and after her decease to my Son NATHANIAL, on condition of his making a sure and certain conveyance to my son WILLIAM of the Tract of land whereon I now live before devised to my son William after the death of my wife which if my son Nathl. shall refuse to do or if he be willing to do it and cannot make such conveyance is hind his issue by the Rules of Law in either of these cases I give the negroes devised to my wife during her life after her death to my son William, and my will touching the Laying off the third year of my Negroes for my wife is that it shall be computed exclusive of the Negroes before devised to my daughter Elizabeth.
Item I give unto my wife an old Negro man named Will, and whereas my wife is now with child, if should he delivered of a sort my will is that my Executors keep my whole Estate together as well that third part of my Negroes devised to my wife as those devised to my daughter Elizabeth till there be raised out of the profits of my Estate 500 pounds currt money which so to be raised I desire may be vested in a Purchase of land and settled on the said child (if a son) and his heirs But if my wife should be delivered of a girl desire also that the afsd sum of 500 pounds should be raised as afsd & that it should be also vested in a purchase of land but that half of the land should only he settled on the said child if a girl and her heirs forever & the other half for my daughter Elizabeth and her heirs forever and if the sd child shd die before 21 I desire her half may be settled on my son William. Item my will is that the said child whether Male or Female should have an equal part of my Estate with my other children.
Item I give to my Uncle CADWALLADER DADE my Riding horse called Roan.
Item I give to WILLIAM BERNARD 20 pounds to buy him a Riding horse. Item It is my desire that if any of my children die before they come co age or are married that their pdrt should be divided amongst the Survivors & if it should happen that they should all die before they receive their respective parts my desire than is that the Negroes I had by my Wife with their increase be equally divided between JOHN SHORT & LAWRENCE WASHINGTON son of HENRY WASHINGTON late of Westmoreland County.
Item it is my desire that the remainder of my Negroes not before disposed of be equally divided between my son William and the child my Wife is now Pregnant with to be delivered to them at their age of 20 or married.
I do hereby appoint my Friends Cadwallader Dade, JOHN WASHINGTON and William Bernard together with my loving Wife Executors of this my last will & Testament .. 12th Novr 1751,

At Court held for Stafford County April 14th 1752 The within Last Will of JOHN WASHINGTON deced was presented into Court by WILLIAM BERNARD and John Washington two of the Executors therein named who made oath being further proved by oaths of FRANCES STUART late FRANCES WASHINGTON, FRANCES DADE & RICHARD BERNARD ..admitted to record .. certificate granted for obtaining probate ..
