    "12 John3 Warner, son of Andrew2 and Rebecca (Fletcher) Warner, born in Middletown, Conn., April 8, 1671; died in Upper Middletown, Aug. 5, 1743. His tombstone may still be seen in Riverside Cemetery. He was a farmer, a weaver by trade and a man of influence in his town. As early as 1698 he received a grant of land in Upper Middletown; in 1712 he was Deputy to the General Court; in 1716 he was appointed ensign of the north company or trainband of Middletown, lieutenant in 1719, and captain in 1725. …

    The inventory of his property was taken June 2, 1743, and amounted to about £160. Letters of administration upon 'the estate of Captain John Warner, late of Middletown, were granted unto Jabez Warner of Middletown, son of the late dec'd.' (Early Connecticut Probate Records.) His homestead was deeded to his son Jabez, who later sold it and removed to Washington, Conn."
