    "Thorp, John, s. of William. Bapt. at New Haven, July 1643; lived there 1666 when he was before the Court with Rebecca Potter, who accused him of the paternity of her child; rem. to Fairfield, where he had a grant 3 Sept. 1679. He m. (1) Hannah Frost, dau. of Daniel. He m. (2) after 1698, Mary, dau. of Robert Meeker, and widow first of Samuel Adams and second of Moses Lyon. He conveyed to his son John, 17 Aug. 1700. Samuel Thorp sold land 1721 which he had by gift from father John dec'd, which descended to him and his bro. Daniel; mentioned also land of his bro. John. Adm'n on Est. of John, Sr., granted to son Samuel Thorp and John Gold both of Fairfield, 17 Oct. 1720."
