    "Stansell, John N. Enlisted in company I, (reorganized) Third Infantry. Aug. 27, 1864. at Brighton, for 3 years, age 17. Mustered Sept. 7, 1864. Corporal Oct. 1864. Mustered out at Victoria, Texas, May 25, 1866."

    He claimed to be 17 years old when he enlisted, however other data indicates he may have been 15 years old.
