Deceased Name: John Walter Scott, 78
SMYRNA - John Walter Scott of Smyrna died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 78. Mr. Scott was born and raised in Wilmington. He graduated from P.S. du Pont High School. He worked as an accounting supervisor with the civil service for Dover Air Force Base for 30 years, retiring in 1978. Mr. Scott was an avid traveler and nature lover. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Scott, in 1987; and a sister, Betty Rugg, in 1996. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Doris Mitchell Scott of Smyrna; two sons, Joel P. Scott of Neptune, N.J., and Peter C. Scott of Dover; a brother, Davis Scott of Wilmington; and a sister, Eleanor Robinson of Warner-Robbins, Ga. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: Special Olympics Delaware, University of Delaware, 619 S. college Ave., Newark, DE 19716-1901. Arrangements by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
