  3.   Note: Source:Sawyer, Fred E. Sawyer Family of Elliotsville (Piscataquis Co., Maine), p. 45 in the 1979 edition, says John Sawyer m. (1) Gorham 22 Jan 1797 Susanna Hamblen, and presumes she must have died before 2 Jun 1799 when he married (2) Grace Jenkins. The marriage to Susanna Hamblen is found in Source:Gorham, Cumberland, Maine, United States. Publishments, Marriages, Births and Deaths from the Earlier Records of Gorham, Maine, p. 1796, between Susanna Hamblen and "John Sawyer, Jr., of Standish". However, Source:McLellan, Hugh D. History of Gorham, Maine, p. 547, shows Susannah Hamblen, d/o Ebenezer Hamblen of Gorham, marrying John Sawyer Jr. of Standish, but says she did not die until 1 Jun 1825 in Knox, Maine. This would suggest that possibly there are two distinct John Sawyers being confused here?
