John lived at Wingate Station during the time of his death.

He was a Section Foreman for the railroad.

His SSN: 711-14-3819.

He was brought in by Lola M Saunders (age 49 at time of John's death).

He is buried at block 14, row 6, grave # 48

John liked to drink. When he got paid on Fridays he would go into town and get drunk.

All the grandchildren would wait for him to come home on Saturday's because he gave them 50 cent peices (which was a lot of money then). Donalee (John's grandchild through Cora Paulyne) remembers that Dorothy and Venola (Bubbles) would take her money away because she was only 4 years old. They would have the black cook at the motel save the empty kitchen matchstick boxes so Donalee could put her money in them and then go bury them in the yard. Donalee remarked she never recovered the boxes so they may still be buried at the lodge somewhere.

John was called "Dad" by his grandkids. He helped start the lodge in Adamana, Arizona (Petrified Forest Lodge).

It is unknown how John came from Missouri to New Mexico and then to Arizona other than him working for the railroad.

It is unknown how John met Elnora Mickley. Need to verify where John and Elnora were married. Donalee recalls they were married in Pennsylvania.

John and Elnora had six children, two of which died in infancy (Paul and Marjorie - although we have a picture of Marjorie at 5 yrs old).
