John Simeon Morrow was born in Marsailles, [KY] on September 2,1840. He was the son of Alexander Walker Morrow and his first wife,Mary Bohannon Morrow. John Simeon moved to Georgetown, TX with his family on January 1, 1853. He was an attorney by profession, and served in Hood's Division during the war between the states.

He married Mary Willie Houston, fourth child of General Sam and Margaret Lea Houston on April 11, 1871 in Georgetown. (John Simeon Morrow as a cousin of Captain J. C. S. Morrow who married Nancy Elizabeth Houston). To this union was born John Houston Morrow (b 2/5/1872 - d 12/10/1916), Andrew Temple Morrow (b 4/11/1875 - d 11/28/1881), Maude Louise Morrow (b 1/14/1883- d 4/24/1957) and Jessie Lea Morrow (b 12/26/1885 - 12/14/1973).

The family moved from Georgetown to Cedar Point, Texas, and livedon land that had been inherited from Mary's father. John Simeon'shealth began to fail, and he was advised to move to a drier climate. He moved his family to Abilene, Texas, early in 1885. John Simeon died on May 20, 1886, and was buried in the Morrow Family Plot in the cemetery in Abilene. His wife and children are also buried in the same place.

After John Simeon's death, Mary Willie became postmistress inAbilene and served in that capacity until 1911. The Morrow family was always active in the Presbyterian church.[]
