Waco Tribune Herald, May 22, 1992 John Henry McBride of Mart (McLennan County), a retired millwright, died Wednesday at a Grosbeak (Limestone County) Hospital. He was 96.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today, at George Price Funeral home in Loveland (Hockey County), the Reverend Merle Fuller and the Reverend Pervious Williams officiating. Levelland Masonic Lodge 1236 AF&AM will conduct graveside services at Levelland City Cemetery.

Mr. McBride was born Sept. 22, 1895 in Ala. He married Willie Mae Sissy on May 21, 1916, in Clairemont. Mr. McBride moved to Mart from Levelland in 1989. He was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church in Levelland and Levelland Masonic Lodge 1236 AF&AM.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, (Cecil) Elmo McBride of Booneville, Ark.; three sisters, Gracie Stevens of Jacksonville, Fla., Hartance Suits of Levelland and Velma McGee of Clifton, Colo.; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.


Mart, which is a small farming town in the southeast corner of McLennan County, about 18 miles from Waco. Grosbeck is about 15 miles east of Mart in Limestone county. Now, Levelland is west of Lubbock up in the Panhandle of Texas.
