Dr. John Mayplet (Christ Church, Oxon), B.A. 1634, M.A. 1647, was Principal of Gloucester Hall (now Worcester College, Oxon) and physician to Charles II. He later resided at Bath, Somerset Count, and is buried in the Abbey Church there with a tablet to his memory. (Gen. Dictionary of Rhode Island, Amer. Gen. Vol XX, p 186-187.)
