John Bareford Lutz is buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Baltimore.

John Bareford Lutz was a member of Glass Bottle Blowers Assn. of U.S. and Canada, Branch #9 Baltimore. Since he was a Glassblower, he had to travel to where work was available, and, therefore, his children were born in different places. His wife's younger sister, Ada, married Thomas Backus, and they traveled with the Lutz family; the Backus children were born in Georgia and Tennessee. The families lived close together and the two sets of children were almost like brothers and sisters. In 1918 another sister of the wife, Bertha Sheppard, died, and John Bareford Lutz and his wife, Annie Ellen Litsinger Lutz, came to Baltimore. They decided to stay and sent for their children and the Backus family. The Lutz family purchased property at 3143 Keswick Road in 1918, and the Backus family purchased property at 838 West 35th Street, both in Hampden, Baltimore City, Maryland. The house at 3143 Keswick Road had been built by one of the wife's Litsinger relatives.
