In a Butler University publication, sometime after 1995, there was a reference to Herbert Reade, who established a "professorship" in 1968 to honor his son. Herbert Reade was a "longtime Indianapolis resident who served as a director of American States Insurance Co., general manager of the John Lees Manufacturing Co., and .......... He was also a founder of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway".
