From the June 26, 1964, edition of the Traverse City (MI) Record-Eagle John Kubesh Dies at 94 John G. Kubesh, 94, a resident of Grand Traverse county for more than 90 years, died suddenly Thursday noon at his home in Long Lake township. Mr. Kubesh was born in Monona, Iowa, on March 24, 1870, moved to this area at the age of three years and cleared most of the land on the farm he acquired in 1892. He was a charter member of the Eagles lodge, which he joined in 1915. On July 1, 1895, was married to Francis Lestina, who died August 1, 1953. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Harry A. (Helen) Miller of Traverse City Rt. 2, Mrs. William (Sophia) Ansorge of Traverse City Rt. 3, Mrs. Tony E. (Blanche) Amtsbuechler of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Kenneth (Agnes) Bon of Muskegon and Mrs. William (Ina) Wrona of Detroit; two sons, George J. of Traverse City and J. Raymond of Midland; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several other relatives. A brothers and a sister preceded Mr. Kubesh in death. The requiem high mass will be sung at 9:00 am Monday at Traverse City Immaculate Conception Church, Msrg. R.W. Passeno celebrant, with burial in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Sunday at Martinson funeral home in Traverse City. |
