Translation of The Sigdalslag 1920 John Knudson Smedsrud was born January 7, 1859 at the Smedsrud place on the Nore farm in Kr0dsherad, the son of Knud Ellefsen and Mari Johnsdatter. He was at home until he was confirmed and then learned shoemaking. He worked as a shoemaker until he went to America in 1880. He came to St. Olaf, Otter Tail County, Minnesota and has lived there ever since. In the summer of 1882 he married Christi Engebretsdatter Risbrudt. She was born June 27, 1862 in Madison Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He bought his father-in-law's farm, where he now lives. They were blessed with a large family. We will name them in order: Mina (Mrs. Thron L. Salvevold), Engebret, Carl, Kari (Mrs. Johannes Salvevold), Julia, Edward, Torkel, Clarence, Anders, Gina, Bennie, Clifford and Alice. 1 NAME Jon Knudsen /Smedsrud/
