“William Chiles’ History of Lafayette County Missouri fixes the first settlement of Clay Township in said Township and County is the latter part of the year 1819...and at or near the same time Thomas Hopper and family with two sons-in-law; Killen and John Young from Indiana...”

“1818 (25 Aug): Married Lydia Hopper Conley in Howard Co, MO, forerunner to Lafayette Co. Married Sallie McClure (Lydia’s first cousin) date and place unknown, but before September 1833, when both were named in a land record in Lafayette Co. 1831: baptised into the LDS church Sept 1831 by Oliver Cowdry. 1834 (6 & 7 August) “united in ministry with Jesse Hitchcock (a brother-in-law). In missionary index for 1834. No idea where served - not recorded. 28 Dec 1838: Ordained a 70 at Far West, MO. 1839: in charge of defense of Far West, and made his HQ in the Joseph Smith home (BH Roberts). 1839 (10 Mar) birth of daughter in Quincy, Adams Co, IL. 1839 (29 Nov) petitions MO for redress of $6,450 in property. 1843 (2 Apr) spoke at conference held in Augusta, Lee Co, IA. 1845 (Jan and Feb) 2 daughters converted to Catholicism at Perryville, Perry Co, MO, in midst of brother George’s children - one married one of George’s sons. 1845 (Jan 29) Went on mission to Kentucky - from where? 1858 (10 Nov) died at his home in Killian’s Canyon, off Emigration Canyon, SLC.
