John Andrew Kilcommons, a farmer, was living in Keansburg, Monmouth Co., NJ when he registered for the WWI draft. He was born 17 February 1880. His nearest relative was Daniel Kilcommons, 126 Clerk St., Jersey City.

Since his mother died when he was very young, he is very likely the 0-4 year old John Kilcommons living in Middletown, Monmouth County in 1885, with John and Mary Tiernan [nee Kilcommons], and the John "Kilcumens", born Feb 1880, who, in 1900, was a servant in the Middletown household of African-Americans Samuel and Martha Collin. John (about age 64) and Mary (about age 59)Tiernan were both from Galway. The great majority of Tiernans in the 1901 Irish census are from the Creggs area, the area where the Kilcommonses are from.

He is very likely the John Kilcommons who attended a dance at the old hotel in Middletown on Thursday night, 4 September 1902, as reported in the Red Bank Register of 10 September.

In 1915, he was enumerated with the James McMahon family in Port Monmouth, Middletown, Township, Monmouth Co., NJ. In 1918, when he registered for the draft, he was a farmer employed by James McManus. He was still living with them at the time of the 1920 census.
