Genealogy of the Jenks Family of America", by William B. Browne, page 71 John Jenks joined with his father and brothers in the movement to seek homes in New Brunswick, and was associated with others of the Smithfield, R. I. area. He settled in Ellington, Conn. and is named there in the 1790 census. The record of his family is not complete, though there were eight listed in the above census. The children, Arke, Anna, and Noah are drawn from deed references and information from his descendants. In 1800 his home farm, bought in 1786, was sold to Arke with the reservation of life use.
