link [The author places the immigrant John Ingoldsby as son of Sir Richard Ingoldsby, Knight, even though it is known that his son John drowned at sea. This John was a sawyer and nothing in his estate suggests an aristocratic birth but instead has a robust lumber inventory. It also gives him a number of children including Sarah who married and was still living when he died in 1684 which is not the case as his probate record in 1684 shows his only heirs were his widow Agnes and his son Ebenezer]. He was admitted to the church 9th. July 1641; appeared in list of "Freemen" (or voters) May 16th. 1642; was married before 1649 to Ruth (Griffin?) [Griffin may apply to his second wife Agnes who the author was unaware] "John Ingoldsby, who married widow Griffin, has liberty to make use of fallen timber at Muddy River for tenant that lives in her house. Oct. 1st. 1673.") He appeared as a witness in the will of William Teft, Boston Sept. 2nd. 1648 and again Nov. 23rd. 1672. He bought a house and lot Jan. 26th 1650 in Boston. Est. adm. 1684.
