Mr. John Alvin (Bud) Houze, 78, of Mitchell passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Beloved husband of the late Velma E. (Boyd) Houze (2001). Dear father of Jim Houze and wife Lori of Mitchell; loving grandfather of Jennifer McConnell and husband Paul and Julie Houze, all of London; dear brother-in-law of Ron McGee of Goderich. Predeceased by his parents Dr. Alvin and May (Dick) Houze, sister Jean McGee (2000) and daughter-in-law Kathy Houze (1999). Bud and his wife had owned and operated the former Bud's Place Service Station in Mitchell for a number of years. He taught Driver Education at Mitchell District High School for 25 years and was a Past President and Life Member of the Mitchell Lions Club. Friends were received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Camillia LaRouche officiating. During the service, Joe Waite and Clarence McDougall of the Mitchell Lions Club and Jennifer McConnell spoke in tribute of Bud's life. Interment in Knox Presbyterian Cemetery, Mitchell. Memorial donations to the "Community Service Fund" of the Mitchell Lions Club or charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
