The Virginia Genealogist, April Jun 1987, Vol 31, #2: British Mercantile Claims: John Holiday, Jr. Spotsylvania. 11.6.10 by bond. He was an officer in the American Army in the late war & was killed at Gen. Gates' defeat near Camden. He left some estate of no considerable value but generally supposed sufficient to pay his debts. Shortly after the peace his widow married Abram Simons with whom she moved to Georgia and carried all the property belonging to the estate of John Holiday, Jr. The residence of Abram Simons in Georgia is near Augusta where he is said to have improved his estate., It is probable this debt might be recovered by pursuing the property to Georgia. JOSHUA WILLIS of Madison married a sister of John Holiday's wife.
