    "… John Hawes of Yarmouth, who was born probably in Duxbury, Mass., between 1635 and 1640, the son of Edmund Hawes. Capt. John Hawes died in Yarmouth 11 November 1701. … John Hawes was a cutler. He served as a representative to the General Court for two years, starting in 1696. According to Col. John Gorham's 'Wast Book,' Capt. John Hawes of Yarmouth, 'having his Leg Cut of Dyed with it.'"
