[Note: this source misidentifies the parents of first wife Mary Fisher. She was John's step sister as shown by his step-father naming grandson Fisher Hartshorn in his will.]

  5. Source:Cutter, William Richard. New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, Vol. 1, p. 403, misidentifies John's parents, placing in a Hartshorn family from Reading, despite (based on details he gives) he has no birth record or probate to show the connection. Ironically, this source names John's father as Joseph, the name of Mary's father, while the Hartshorn genealogy names Mary's father as Ebenezer, the name of John's father.
