Barbara Johnson says that "John and Patience lived on Long Creek in 1788, 3 miles from Lexington. In 1803 they moved to what is now Henderson Co, Ky., 7 miles south of Henderson. His will was proven in Henderson County, 1821, and names 8 children." On Sept 16, 1787, John, along with his brothers-in-law John Lane and David Lowry, were in a battle against the Creek Indians. According to the source, David Lowry was killed in action. The following is from Barbara Johnson, and came from the book, "John Hart and associates founded Watkinsville, county seat of Clarke Co, GA." 16 Sept 1787-Together w/brothers-in-law John Lane & David Lowry, (KIA), in battle against Creek Indians. In 1785, when he was 22, John married Patience Lane, daughter of Jessie Lane & Winifred Aycock, in Johnson Co, NC. Patience was born on 28 Mar 1765 in Wake, NC., and died in Henderson, KY. Buried with John in Book Cemetery in Henderson, KY.

The following is from the will of John Hart, filed at. Will 2001-1. John Hart wrote his will June 29 1821, and it was proved in the October Court, 1821, in Henderson County, Kentucky. Executors: Sons, Thomas Hart, & John J. Hart Legatees: Wife, Patience: Sons, Thomas Hart & John J. Hart: Daughters, Rebecca Hart, Rhoda Hart, Polly Hart, Susanna Floyd, Nancy Jordon, Kiziah Sugg, & Lucy Standley: Grandsons, John H. Standley, & Nathaniel G. Standley: Mentions Brother Lemuel Hart.

After signing the will, John added a codicil on Oct 16, 1821, when he was apparently near death. "Since signing of this will, I have determined the negro boy Shelby, willed to Nancy Jordon, shall be for her own proper use during her lifetime, and after her death, to go to her children, and not to be in any manner under the controle of her husband or to be taken in any way to pay his debts, as witness my hand and seal this 16 day of October 1821. John X (his mark) Hart. The main part of his will indicated that he signed it himself, but he was apparently so sick that he was unable to sign the codicil, so it was signed with an X.

The will and a discussion of it are filed at: 2002-7-5.

The following is from research of Bobbie Newham in the Alabama Archives. Filed at: 2002-1-8. From the book; "Information on some Georgia Pioneers, Family heads, 1805, Georgia". John Hart, Bulloch County, w/Patience Lane, daughter of Jas. and Winnifred Aycock Lane, moved to Kentucky.

from Ky genweb

John B. Hart was son of Benjamin and Nancy Morgan Hart (who is a Revolutionary War heroine). He was born ~1763 in NC and died after 1821 in Henderson Co., KY. He married Patience Lane in 1785 in Johnson Co., NC. She was born 28 Mar 1765 in Wake Co., NC, daughter of Jesse and Winifred Aycock Lane, and died ~1832 in Henderson Co., KY. John and Patience had at least 11 children; Nathaniel, Thomas, John Jackson, Nancy/Ann, Kezia, Rebecca, Susannah/Susan, Rhoda, Mary, Benjamin Franklin, and Amelia. This 1810 census shows 13 children--2 boys are missing from my list. I am descended from John and Patience's daughter, Nancy/Ann Morgan Hart. Nancy married John Stanley first and had 2 sons, John H. and Nathaniel G. Stanley. John Stanley died when both sons were toddlers. Nancy married Arthur Jordan on 12 April 1813 and they had 9 children. Arthur was born 1780 in Granville Co., NC, son of Turner and Nancy Smith Jordan.

Benjamin and Nancy had at least eight children. It is believed that Benjamin and Nancy, with possibly three of their sons, Morgan, John, and Thomas, participated in the Battle of Kettle Creek in GA, February 14, 1779. After the war they moved to Brunswick, Glynn Co., GA. After Benjamin's death around the turn of the century, Nancy moved to Clarke Co., GA, where her son John lived, and about 1802/03 they moved to Henderson Co., KY, where Nancy remained until her death, reportedly at the age of 93. They are buried in Book Cemetery in Henderson Co., KY.
