    [2130R] John1 Harbor, (Harbour/Harbard/Harbert), is first of record when on Feb. 24, 1639 (40) a grant of 12 acres for three heads was made to John Harbor at Mt. Wollaston. John Harbert was made freeman Jun. 2, 1641. He was born in England about 1600 as on Apr. 28, 1653 he deposed aged 53 years. (Early Court Rec. #188). No mention of his wife is found but in 1647 he married for a second wife Hannah widow of Benjamin Scott for on Sep. 21, 1647 John Harbor Sr. gave bonds for payment of portions of the estate to the children of Benjamin Scott. Only one child is known, a son John, and from the land grant for three heads in 1640 it would seem that he came over with only a wife and one child. His land was east of present Franklin St., Quincy, a short way south of School St., near Water St. John Harbor Sr. died Jun. 1, 1675 …"
