John Hagarty served in the Revolutionary War as a Private. There is a widow's pension on file at the National Archives. (DAR Patriot's Index, Vol 1) Will Boook B, p. 284
DAR ID Number: 68254 Born in Brooklyn, N. Y. Descendant of John Hagerty. Daughter of David J. Crimmins and Susan Brower, his wif [p.90] Granddaughter of Jacob Brower and Lydia Hagerty, his wife. Gr-granddaughter of Asher Hagerty and Susan Howland, his wif Gr-gr-granddaughter of John Hagerty and Mary Taylor, his wif John Hagerty (1757-1822) enlisted, 1776, and served three years as private under Captain Waggoner, Virginia service, and, 1781-82, served in Monmouth County, N. J., under Capts. Thomas Chadwick and Joseph Bishop; engaged in the battle of Germantown, where he was taken prisoner. In 1836 applied for a pension. His claim was allowed. He was born in Ireland; died in Shrewsbury, N. J. |
