In Albion, Dane Co., Wis., Jan. 20th, 1867, John W. Eggleston, aged 31 years. He enlisted into the service of the United States in September, 1864, and was a member of Co. G, 38th Wisconsin Regiment, with which he remained until the regiment was discharged. He received injuries while in the service, which hurried his death. Being disabled by these injuries, he was home on a furlough in March, 1865, during which time he made a profession of religion in the ordinance of Christian baptism, and united with the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Albion, of which he remained a worthy member until death. He leaves a wife and one child, and a large circle of relatives and friends, to mourn their loss, but with the consoling hope, that 'he sleeps in Jesus.' J. C.
