John, son of Mareen Duvall, married Elizabeth, daughter of William and Elizabeth (___) Jones. On 17 Aug 1685 his father-in-law deed "Wilson's Grove" to him and his wife Elizabeth "for natural love and affection. John and Elizabeth had 11 children, eight of whom survived to adulthood. Seven of those children were named in an Act of the Maryland Legislature in April/May 1737 breaking the entail on "Wilson's Grove" and granted in fee simple to John's oldest surviving son, Lewis.
John held a number of public offices, and had extensive land holdings. He died intestate, and was buried from All Hallows Church on 20 April 1711. Letters of Administration were issued to his widow on 15 June 1711.
John also had two surviving children by his mistress.

Newman suggests that John Duvall may have been the oldest son of Mareen the Emigrant, born in France and child of his first (but unknown) marriage.
