John was living apparently, at least as late as 1765, when his nephew John, was still calling himself "Jr." He probably was the John Duckett referred to in the following records, although we cannot be certain that one or more of these did not refer to his nephew and namesake: July 3, 1755 His name was proposed by Colonel Addison, as Clerk of the Committee for Arms, Ammunition and Accounts ... and later was confirmed and took the oath for that office ... in Anne Arundel County. [Archives,op. cit., Volume 56, Pages 156, 157.] July 4, 1755 "Friday". His name was mentioned in same capacity as above. [Ibid. Page 162.) 1755/1756 John Duckett was among those parishioners of All Saint's Parish, Frederick County, who were petitioning for a new Parish. [Ibid.Volume 52] March 15, 1756 John Duckett signed and returned to the legislature, alist of material which had been issued to the Militia Co's. [Ibid,Volume 56, Pages 334 - 336.] October 12, 1756 Acct's of Governor Horatio Sharpe, re: the "Western Expedition" ... "To Andrew Campbell and John Duckett for bringing some ofthe sick militia and their baggage from Fort Cumberland and carrying arms from Fort F[rederick?].
