John Tunis Dinkel, 65, of Oley, Pa., formerly of Spotswood, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, Pa. John was born and raised in Spotswood, where he lived until 2001, when he moved to Toms River for a short period. He settled in Oley last year. He retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825, Springfield, in 1997, after more than 26 years of service. He was an NASCAR fan who also loved to fish and hunt with family and close friends. He looked forward to his retreats in Potter County, Pa., where he had a cabin for quiet getaways. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his three sons, Robert A. Dinkel and John T. Dinkel Jr., both of Oley, Pa., and Kenneth S. Dinkel of Pottstown, Pa.; a brother, Frank Dinkel of Englishtown; a sister, Ruth Johnson of Virginia; and four grandchildren, Ashton, Robert and Timothy Dinkel and Robert Poole. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Spotswood Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 475 Main St., Spotswood. Interment will follow in the Reformed Church Cemetery, Spotswood. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in honor of John be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 U.S. Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902. Have headstone picture |
