Dr. John Louis Dazio, formerly of Coatesville Dr. John Louis Dazio, 82, of Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Coatesville, died May 19, 2012, after a valiant effort to fight an acute hospital based infection. Dr. Dazio was previously married to Marie Shesko Dazio and is survived by his daughters, Vanessa M. Dazio and her husband, Wayne K. Ekren, Lynda Dazio Thomas, Brenda Dazio Martyniak and her husband Mike; sisters, Lena Kluckowski and her husband Stan and Ida Di Norscia; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and long time friends. He was born at home on February 13, 1930, to Brigida Di Eulis Dazio and Salvatore Dazio, the last of 11 children. He was a high school football star, and graduated from Coatesville High School, class of 1948. He entered University of Pittsburgh in 1948, played football with the Pittsburgh Panthers and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1952. After dental school, Dr. Dazio joined the Navy, completed his assignment in Bainbridge, Md. and received an honorable discharge as Lieutenant in 1957. Dr. Dazio then established his thriving dental practice in Coatesville. He mentored many young dentists; anonymously donated scholarship monies; provided assistance to many families in need, and did so without desire for recognition. Dr. Dazio retired to Florida in 1988. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Dazio accepted full time employment as the quality assurance director for Functional Abilities, Inc. Throughout his retirement years in Florida, Dr. Dazio found many ways to help and support his daughters in their lives. A memorial service will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, in Florida at the home of Vanessa Dazio-Ekren and Wayne K. Ekren.
