Received at Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia, January 21, 1865, for exchange. Had not rejoined his company as of February 28, 1865. No further records Survived the war.[NCT 17:349]
He died on 25 October 1925 at the age of 79 in Catawba County, North Carolina.[Catawba Country Cemeteries, 8:73.] He was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. Inscription reads, in part: Elder in Reformed Church Confederate Soldier - Descendant of Martin Coulter, Sr. - [who] Came from Palatinate to America- 1749 - md Catherine Rosanna Boone ca 1756 - Citizen and Freeholder of NC - 1765. He was a jeweler and farmer and lived in Newton.
