John Drury Cook was named in his grandfather's will (Henry Cook) as John Cook, son of Drury Cook, grandson. "At the age of twenty-one years or marries, one Negro boy named June, to him and his heirs forever."

The marriage record of John Drury Cook and Mary Heard is recorded in the Bible of Tom Lee Cook of Madras, Georgia. The record was originally in the Bible of Caleb Cook, son of John Drury Cook.

John Drury Cook went to Clarke County, Georgia, about 1804; to Morgan County, Georgia, about 1809; to Henry County, Georgia, about 1823 and about 1828 he settled at Cooksville, in the part of Coweta County which was cut off into Heard County, Georgia. The old Cook homestead is still owned by a descendant of Hope Hull Cook, John Drury's youngest child. Here was found the Bible of John Drury Cook which records the birth dates of his 13 children and most of his grandchildren. (We have copy in our binder) .

John Cook bought 205 acres from Thomas Napier of Columbia County, Georgia. 22 January 1795 for 50 pounds. The land was on Beaverdam Fork of Town Creek in Greene County and is recorded in Deed Book 2, page 149, Greene County, Georgia records.

7 April 1804 James Stringer of Clarke County sold 150 acres on the waters of Barber's Creek adjoining James Cook and Ed Moore, to John Cook of Greene County John Cook, son of John Drury Cook, of Clarke County. Recorded in Deed Book C, page 224, Clarke County

13 February 1809, Greene County, Georgia, deeds - John Cook of Morgan County to Thomas Ligon, 253 acres in Greene County, Georgia. on Beaverdam Creek adjoining Thomas Heard for $1400.

The 1820 Tax Digest for Morgan County, Georgia. in Capt. Hackney's District lists John Cook, Sr.: I poll, 202 112 acres, Lot #152, District 15, on Indian Creek, Morgan County.

The 1820 census of Morgan County, Georgia. lists John Cook: (males) 1 (0-9 ); 1 (10-15); 1 (18-25); 1 (26-45) and I (over 45 yrs.). (females) 1 (0-9 ); 4 (10-15); 1 (16-25) and I (over 45 yrs.). John Cook also made deeds in Henry County, Georgia, in 1822 & 1825.

John Cook is found in the 1830 census of Coweta County, Georgia( 60-69 years of age).
