"The reason we think John2 may have been son of John1 by a putative first wife is because John1 was called 'Sr.' in 1637 at the baptism of his son Samuel, and 'the elder' in a duplicate entry. Hence, unless there was a tally unknown John Burwell in the parish, we conclude that the son John2 was 18 or 19 years of age by 1637, and born by 1618-19. John1 married Esther Winchester late in 1622 and had children by her baptized in 1623 and 1625, so if by this wife, John2 could not have been born much before 1627. That is entirely possible, but leaves it unexplained why John1 was called 'Sr.' ten years later."
"Child of John Burwell, perhaps by a first wife, perhaps by Esther Winchester: John2 (Burwell), d. at Milford, Conn., in 1665; m. (unknown)."
