The letter says "John (myself) born Sept. 10th 1718 N.S.". This date is repeated twice in the letter. George Bowman, the editor, says that "there can be little doubt that John knew the correct date of his birth". He notes that the town records give 8 Oct for both John and his next younger brother Ebenezer, and that he believes the town records are wrong.
