Facts and Events
Johannes Adam Aurandt was a very important person in his time and place. He was a man of substance and prestige and would have been held in high esteem by his prince (Prince Heinrich of Dillenburg-Nassay 1641-1710 and Prince Wilhelm 1710-1724) and by the people. He was administrator of the Prince's iron works, forester, juror, and church elder at Bergebersbach. A juror was similar to the modern day Justice of the Peace. As a juror and official of the Count of Nassau-Dillenburg, Johannes had supervision of a part of the Dillenburg area--specifically Bergebersbach. There were six jurors in the Dillenburg district. He was also appointed forester by the Count accountable for supervising the Count's forested estates in his area. Ref: Aurandt Panorama by M.A. Harbaugh, pgs. 10, 194-196. |
