Hej, We are related and there are no doubts. I had the knowledge since last Monday but I have had papers with notes all over and this week I have put all pieces together into my computer. Blood is blood and not water and as proof I have a lot of copies of all the church books connecting us to one another. After you have read all the material and if you have any questions or doubts, please do not hesitate to ask and I can explain how and were to read the lines in the books.

If you had put the notes on Scangen before August 10tth I would not have known about Emma. During the Summer I have tried to locate Peter's brothers and sisters and received the letter from the parish office in Hjarnarp this date. I have traced my Hilma born 1881-05-04, leaving Hjarnarp 1898. Yes, I ended up with your Hilma and her grand daughter Eisy. Besides me and my sister Ingrid, you also have five still living relatives through Hilma's grand daughter Eisy and she is still living at the age of 76.

Now I must confess I had a special feeling all the time, too many pieces were pointing towards the same direction. I have the father of Emma's ancestors back in the century of 1600th. The earliest ancestors is from a research made by Engelholms Genealogy Society, they are not in the ordinary books. All the ancestors were born and lived in the surroundings of Hjarnarp. Most of them from Forslov but also Grevie and Barkakra.

In earlier times if the father had a piece of land, the oldest son inherited the land. Most of your ancestor were farmworkers, either at the father's place or somewhere else. I am enclosing copies from the birth books connecting Peter, Hilma and Emma to their father Johannes Sonesson Tell.

Please tell me if you are interested in any of all the other copies I have, see below, by mail. I am enclosing the whole genealogy research for Johannes Sonesson Tell in a RTF-file. It is all in Swedish and some of the words are Levde = lived Flyttade = moved Inflyttad = moved in Utflyttad = moved out Torpare = farmer but not owning the land Drang = farm worker Piga = maid Dog = died Begravd = burried Gift = married Abo = the person owning a piece of land Ogift = unmarried Omkring = around Johannes Sonesson Tell worked as a farmer moving around. He could read. He was a military during 1851-1859 at the regement of Kronprinsens Husarer. The mission the militaries had at that time was living and working in a farm and sometimes they will be sent away on a special assignment, i.e watching the borders. Barkakra was and still is a military place. During the military service the men often received another last name and so did Johannes, the name Tell. In 1858 he met a woman, Johanna Larsdotter from Lidhult born 1816, the county of Smaland, and she got pregnant. They were not married at that but the church book indicates Johannes Sonesson Tell as being the father to my grandmother's father Peter Tell. She could read. This woman was divorced by the Swedish cathedral, very rare at that time since the women belonged to the men. The woman gave birth once more to a daughter in 1862, father unknown, named Karin Tell. Finally in 1863. Johannes Sonesson Tell and Johanna Larsdotter got married. The church book indicates that Karin lived within the family and she was still in the family when your grandmother was born. Johaness' first wife died in March 1880 and he re-married in December 1880 to Olivia Svensdotter born 1849 at Tastarp. Her father came from Ostra Karup and her mother from Tassjo. I know a little from this family now. Olivia had two sisters and one brother. There might be people still living even from Emma's mother. Into that marriage Olivia brought an illegitimated son, Johannes Karlsson, born 1875 in Ostra Karup. She worked as a maid at Vastra Karup, the village close by, but gave birth in her parents house. The father of Johannes was unknown.

Johannes Sonesson Tell was still going strong being 55 years of age and Hilma was born and at the age of 57 your grandmother Emma was born on the 20th of December 1883. The brother Peter Tell already left the family in 1881. In 1885 Karin Tell left the family to and moved to Malmo. Johannes Sonesson Tell died in June 1894, Hilma being 13 and Emma 11. When Johannes first moved to Hjarnarp he lived at the estate Ulriksfalt as a worker and as a widow with two young children I believe Olivia did not get any work so she was put out on the road. Emma was confirmated 1895, se note j23. In 1896 Hilma moved to Angeholm and in 1898 she went on to Helsingborg. In the church book for the year of 1900 Emma and her mother are registered as "in the parish living" with no adress. In November 1901 Emma left Hjarnarp and on the boat Celtic arrived Ellis Island on the 17th of November. Her destination at that time was the address 5th Ave, Chicago. At the original passenger list it says Emma, 17 years and 11 monhs coming from Hjarnarp.

Johannes Karlsson lived within the family until 1893 when he left for Barkakra doing his military service. In 1895 he took out a moving attest for Norra Vram, close by to Helsingborg, but never showned up there, he is not in the books. He moved back into Orkelljunga in 1915 with his wife August Sofia born May 1873 at Vaxtorp on the other side of the hill of Hjarnarp. At the book for Orkelljunga there is a note "moving in from North America" and the 1898 and no 4271798. 1898 is probably the year of his emigration. I do not know where he lived between 1895-1915. They moved back to Tastarp in October 1917. They were married on 11th of february 1901, I believe in then States. You may probably get the marriage license through the Cook County Office in Chicago. The brother Johannes and Augusta lived when he died at Lyckorna i Hjarnarp in 1966. There were no children either in Orkelljunga or Hjarnarp registered for Johannes and Augusta.

The death of Emma's mother is not to be found in the books. She is in the book for the year 1910 but not 1920. She was probably living in a poor house and there is no registration more than living in the parish. Last year going down to Helsingborg I stopped at the Hjarnarp grave yard asking if they had done a grave inventory .There was no grave for Emma's father. Farmworkers and poor people were often burried on the outside of the grave yard and nobody know where. There may have been a wooded cross once. Emma'grandmother, Petronella Svensdotter, died 1906-11-20 at Ostra Karup and that may be reason for Emma going back to Sweden.
