  2.   The transcription of Plymouth records in MD, Vol. 1, p. 142, gives the same information as the published record, except the year of death is represented as "169(*)". The TAG article by Mrs. Barclay covering this family, Vol. 41, p. 205, lists Joannah as b. 27 Feb 1689, d. 30 Mar 1690. Alicia Williams' article in MD, Vol. 44, p. 140, lists Joannah as b. "27 Feb 1689[/90]; bapt. 7 Apr. 1690; d. at Plymouth, 30 Mar. 1690 (VR, 3; MD, 1:142)". The baptism is useful in allowing double-dating to be determined, but if true, it says she was alive after 30 Mar 1690. As has been shown, neither of the sources specified actually give the exact year of death, and it appears Ms. Williams blindly followed Mrs. Barclay's TAG article even though her own information, the baptism, showed it was wrong. One would assume that the name Joannah was important to this family, since they reused it (and possibly representing circumstantial information that mother was Mary Lucas, since Ms. Williams points out Benoni Lucas used the name Joanna as well, it not appearing to be an Atwood name). Therefore if Joannah died Mar 1690 as given, why not use the name for the daughter b. 1691, rather than using Mary and waiting until 1700? This also seems to indicate the first Joannah was alive 26 Apr 1691 when Mary was born. So, about all that can be safely said, is that Joannah died sometime before 1700 since her year of death is 169(*).
