Foley Chapel of the Chimes in Houston. Burial in the Brookside Memorial Park, Houston. Rev. Ray Turner and Rev. Bob Flourney officiated.

BORN 8/01/1899, he was the oldest son of M/M John Berry. Born and reared in the Nile Community. Moved to Houston about 35 years ago and at the time of death was an operator of a Texaco Service Station.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Ethel Lawson Berry, Houston; mother, Irene Berry of Thorndale; 2 daughters, Mrs. W.J. Butterfras of Cypress; Mrs. W.L. Sawyer of Houston; 3 sons, Johnnie Matt and B.J. Berry both of Houston, B.M. Berry of Kenedy; 3 sisters, Mrs. Guy Phillips and Mrs. Bill Reeves of Thorndale, Laura Mae Berry of San Angelo; 4 brothers, O.M. and Leo Berry of Houston; Wilford and Luther Berry of Austin; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. SS Death Benefit on #449-09-4362.

The 1900 Census record has his birthdate recorded as Sept 1896. I have used that date instead of the date in the above obit and Social Security Death record because even the obit says he was the oldest son of John Berry. John's next oldest son was born in July, 1899 and so an Aug 1899 birthdate of the oldest son is impossible. I will use the date on the 1900 Census record.

Jessie's mother's 1965 obit says (Jessie) Sanford was already deceased. Therefore, the above 1969 d/o/d is definitely in error. Yet, 1969 is also on the SSDI.

Jessie was age 66 at death. Date of death calculated from 1896 birthdate is abt 1962. This is the most likely calculated d/o/d. Date of death calculated from 1899 birthdate is abt 1965. Yet the date of death in this obit is 1969. Birth year calculated 66 years before 1962 is 1896 Birth year calculated 66 years before 1965 is 1899 impossible per date of Wilford's birth Birth year calculated 66 years before 1969 is 1903 impossible per date of Wilford's birth
