"Jeremiah Routh settled along Coles Creek before 1776 (also known as Boyds Creek) is in what is now Jefferson County north of Natchez (which is in Adams Co.) Jefferson Co formed in 1799...first called Pickering & then changed to Jefferson in 1802 Jeremiah died intestate in 1791 (this area was still under Spanish Rule at that time) he left a widow Margaret & 4 known children - Elijah "the eldest son" who died in 1794; Mary Routh born before 1758; Job Routh bc 1763 & d 1834 Natchez., Miss who in a deposition stated he was "native to N.C." & Jeremiah, Jr - about the same age as Job.
"Zaccheus Routh died in Avoyelles Parish, La. in 1792 - His will states "I leave my body to earth, and my soul to God who gave it to me. I bequeath to my wife the cow, I bequeath and give to my son Ben Routh my house, 3 cows and two calves, my horse, my tools etc".
"Son Benjamin Routh was born sometime prior to 1765. Marriage Record - as entered by the Spanish clerk 23 Jun 1792. Benjamin Routh of Auoyelles Post, (Louisiana) native of Maclenbon (sic) Mecklenburg (rect) in Carolina, son of Zaquire Routh & Bord Brege to Sarah widow of Benjamin Estanli, resident of Ayoyelles
"NOTE: the Bord Brege was as written by the Spanish & I have no idea what it could be. The Estanli = Stanley, for some reason the Spanish were always putting an "e" before names. If anyone is interested I would be glad to share further information on Jeremiah and Zaccheus Routh.

Hello. I am Anne Baker from Kentucky (abaker@searnet.com). The Routh family I am interested in is Jeremiah
Routh & his wife Margaret Hawkins. They were living in Mecklenburg., NC in the 1760's & possibly before. Before
1775 they migrated to the area that would become Natchez, Adams Co., Miss. Jeremiah was dead before 1791. He
was, to say the least, a colorful ole bird!

All records say they raised a very large family, unfortunately I only know of a few of their children.
Zaccheus Routh (he might be a brother of Jeremiah,Sr. not a son), Elijah, Isaac, Jeremiah, Jr, John, JOB,
Mary..there are more children & most if not all had old testament names - they would be born probably 1745 + +

Job (one of the youngest children if not the youngest) seems to be the only one who remained in Natchez..the
others, legend says moved to Louisanna & on into Texas - although one or more are said to have moved north to
    Tenn.

JOB ROUTH is my ancestor & he was born cir 1762 Mecklenburg Co., NC & died 12 Dec 1834, Natchez, Miss (buried
Routh Cem) married 30 May 1793 Natchez, Ann Miller (bc 1774 & d 10 Oct 1820) Ch: Elizabeth, John, Caroline
Matilda (MY LINE), Sarah Jane, Francis, Stephen Minor, Mary Magdaline, Ann M, Isaac Johnson Routh.

I know quite a bit about Job but would love to know more about his brothers & sisters.

    Thanks.
