The most startling news we have is in relation to the departure of Mr. John W. Lewis, Jr., and a sprightly looking widow lady in the person of Mrs. Jennie Riley, who left for Chicago Saturday night, and from best information they are now "two souls with but a single thought," etc., and are expected to return home in a day or so to receive congratulations of friends.

SHOOK HER HARD – Husband Accused By Wife – She Says He Jarred All Her Hairpins Out and She Wants a Divorce. “The allegations that Mrs. Jennie Riley of Whitehall has brought against her husband, George Riley, in a suit for divorce started today, would almost fill a book. Her reasons for a legal separation are many and varied. One charge on which stress is laid is that a week ago Monday her husband came home in a state of intoxication, caught hold of her and shook her until not a hairpin was left in her head. She also avers that January 4, 1903, Riley choked her, struck her on the head with his fist and told her he wouldn’t pick her up if she was dying in the street. At that she states she went away from home and remained away for several days. On another occasion, she asserts, the defendant came home late to supper and was so drunk he spilled his tea on the table. When she remonstrated he called her vile names. This so angered her that she threw a cup of tea in his face. Then her husband pounded her with his fists and kicked her until she fainted. The couple was married at Montague, November 10, 1902. They have one daughter, Florence Agnes Riley, aged four months. Mrs. Riley asks for the custody of the child.
