John and James Jump are mentioned as early settlers in Greene Township. In addition it mentions that John Jump were soldiers in the war of 1812-14. (History of Polk Co., Missouri) James Jump was a judge of the county court in 1862 for 2 years. Bolivar Free Press Mar 17 1938 Mrs. Jemima Rentfrow Matlock, aged 78 died at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon of this week at her home 4 miles north of Polk, Missouri after an illness of two months. She is survived by her husband John H. Matlock, and by three children, John W. Rentfrow of Bolivar, Jim Rentfrow of Borger, Texas and Mrs. Sadie West of Walsh, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in the Baptist church at Polk. Interment will be in the Payne cemetery under the direction of Hutcheson-Blue. References
