It is an assumption based on the 1900 census that Jefferson was the son of Joseph S. Jackson. As Jefferson was listed as a grandson of David and Mary Jackson it is possible that he was the son of a different son of David and Mary's. But since Joseph was a widower living with his parents, David and Mary, it is likely that Jefferson was Joseph's son. On the other hand, David and Mary had a son Jefferson T. and I don't know anything about him. It is possible that young Jefferson was a son of Jefferson T. More research is needed here. 1900 Census Dist 93, Peavine, Walker Co., Georgia Jackson, David C.
